Snowmobiling in Park City, Utah

I recently got to join my husband at a conference in Park City, Utah. We left our kids in the care and safety of family and got to get away for a little couples weekend. I say “couples weekend” loosely, because although we were away on a trip together, he was still working. I had to occupy myself during the days. So what’s a girl to do when all alone in Park City? Make friends and go snowmobiling!

We knew a few other couples on this trip and I rallied one of the gals to join me. She jumped at the opportunity for adventure and off we went into the blanket of deep snow. We joined up with Summit Meadows Adventures, located on the beautiful Garff Ranch. Summit Meadows Adventures is operated by Deer Valley Resort and is just eight miles from the historic downtown area of Park City.

When we arrived I was a little concerned because I hadn’t really packed the right clothing for so much snow. But no worries, they had us covered. They decked us out in full snowsuits and helmets, and our kind tour guide even lent me an extra scarf for my neck. And thank goodness, because boy, did I need it! It was cold! But so very beautiful!

We headed out for a two-hour tour through the scenic Wasatch Mountains. The snow was deep and fluffy and the trees were covered in fresh powder from the snowfall the day before. It was a winter wonderland!

We had a small group of only about 6 snowmobiles. We followed our guide up and down hills and valleys and at one point we got to stop and race around an open field doing donuts. My favorite part was when we got to drive through the forest. The trees were magnificent and majestic. When we stopped for a picture break the air was filled with that muffled, insulated sound of nature in it’s most quiet and protected state.

We followed along in a single file line for most of the journey. In many places, we got to open up at full throttle and speed across the fields with nothing standing in our way.

The tour was exhilarating and the two hours was the perfect amount of time for this California girl. I didn’t want the thrill to end, but I had had enough of the cold by the time our ride was over. It was time to get back and snuggle up with my hubby next to the fire with a hot drink in my hand.

So if you ever find yourself in Park City, Utah, looking for a fun, family-friendly activity, check out Summit Meadows Adventures. At the time of this post, the rates were 1 hour for $109 and 2 hours for $149. Children 8 years and under ride free with a paying adult. Two people are the maximum allowed on a snowmobile at a time.
